The right order for skincare routine
First the serum or the cream? And when to apply the facial oil? Here you will find the answer to the correct facial care sequence.
The order of skincare on your face is crucial for the effectiveness of the individual components. We explain step by step when to use which product to perfectly care for your skin and prepare it for makeup.
Step 1: Face cleansing
Every skin care routine begins with a thorough cleansing of the face. Remove make-up, dirt and excess sebum with a cleansing product that suits your skin type.
Caution: Sulfates degrease and dry out your facial skin!
It is therefore better to use mild cleansing lotions and oils and ideally rinse them off with lukewarm water - this also supports the cell regeneration of your skin.
After cleansing, you can optionally exfoliate. It removes flakes of skin, reduces the size of your pores, helps to smooth scars, e.g. old pimple marks, and conjures up a rosy, even complexion.
Exfoliation should only be done once or twice a week, as it is very stressful for the skin and can weaken the skin's acid barrier if used too frequently.
Step 2: Toner
The toner - or face wash - completes the clarifying part of your facial skin care. It removes the last cleansing residues and restores the natural pH value of your skin.
After this step, your facial skin is perfectly prepared for the absorption of active ingredients.
Extra: Face mask
For intensive care, you can optionally apply a face mask at this point in your skin routine. Whether sheet, bubble or toner masks: they contain highly dosed active ingredients that supply your skin with important nutrients.
Moisturizing masks can be used daily, cleansing masks no more than two to three times a week.
Step 3: Serum
After the toner or mask, it's time for the serum. It is spread thinly over the face - a few drops are sufficient. Serums contain highly concentrated active ingredients that quickly and deeply penetrate the skin thanks to their watery consistency.
With serums you do not have to decide, because they can be wonderfully combined with each other! The following applies: First liquid, then gel-based serums after a short application time, apply a thin layer to your face.
Our Ave+Edam serums are easy to combine due to their clean active ingredients and can be variably integrated into your facial care routine.
Which serums you combine depends on your skin goals. Perhaps you want to apply a protective serum against harmful environmental influences and blue light in addition to the moisturizing anti-aging serum or radiate with an extra portion of glow during the day.
Steep 4: Face oil & oil serums
As the next step in your facial care routine, you can massage a few more drops of facial oil or an oil serum into your skin if needed.
Oil serums are suitable for all skin types: By supplying oil from the outside, the skin stops its excess sebum production. This refines the pores and prevents impurities. In addition, the oil provides a great glow.
Alternatively, you can also mix our oil serum "Perfection Boost" into your day and night care. Simply add two or three drops to the cream and apply together - for a silky skin feeling and a radiant complexion.
Step 5: Eye cream
The thin skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive and dries out quickly. Especially from the age of 30, this can increasingly lead to small dryness wrinkles.

For all those who suffer from dry skin, a special eye cream is useful at this point. Its coordinated ingredients provide the sensitive skin with moisture and prevent burning eyes at the same time.
Step 6: Day- and nightcreme
After the serums and eye cream, the next step is to apply a skin care cream that suits your skin type. Due to their different objectives, it makes sense to use a special day and night cream.
The day cream primarily serves to protect the skin from drying out and harmful environmental influences. Its texture is usually light and a good base for make-up.
The night cream primarily supports the skin's regeneration process. It provides it with nourishing ingredients that are slowly absorbed overnight. The texture of the night cream is richer and heavier than that of the day cream.

Step 7: Sunscreen
The sun's UV rays are a major cause of premature skin aging. Accordingly, make sure that your morning skin routine includes sufficient sun protection or supplement it with Sun Drops or a sunscreen serum. When protecting your skin with a sunscreen, apply it at the end of your facial routine or alternatively about 20 minutes before leaving the house.
